Ghent by the water

A gem of an apartment.

Pros: The apartment was clean and exceptionally well presented. It had everything needed to have a relaxing stay in Ghent. Only 15 minutes walk from the centre although there are tram stops nearby. Communications from the owner are precise and timely. There is parking available but if you have a larger car it is difficult to get in. Instructions on parking elsewhere are also provided if required.

Cons: Occasionally the lift was problematic.

A relaxing and comfortable apartment.

Pros: The location was quiet and had a good outlook from the living room. It was a modest walk into the center of Ghent but the apartment was also close to a tram stop if you wanted to cave time. The apartment was spacious and comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. Parking might be an issue, there is limited parking nearby but there is some free parking near the watersport lake and if you park there I recommend taking a short cut through the car park of the large supermarket there. That is about 10 minutes walk from the apartment. It is an excellent supermarket as well.

Cons: The stairs are very narrow and spiral. It is possible to walk up and down them but they are not easy and I would not recommend for luggage or children. There is a lift but it is tiny, barely room for a baby buggy. It wasn't a problem for us, but it might present problems, so be aware.

Great apartment - terrible check-in

Pros: The apartment is recently renovated and has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The apartment is large and prices plenty of space for 4 x adults

Cons: The check in process was a bit annoying - self check and standing at the entrance to the building waiting for host to get back to us with codes to get into the building. Once inside I was stuck in the lift and could not stop at level 3. Had to walk all luggage up to flights of spiral staircase. The process of getting in should have been simple starting with providing key codes a few hours before check in. Asked if we could have the key codes earlier in the day and told we had to wait until the room was cleaned- owner was overseas ! Car park is not suitable for most cars so we had to park in Watersportbaan and walk 1.5kns with suitcases. If they can get check-in fixed the modern and well equipped apartment would be a real winner

Pros: Clean, spacious, stylish and well equipped. Great location to explore from.

A top class city apartment with helpful hosts.

Pros: Excellent apartment; we felt immediately at home. It was immaculate, roomy and flooded with light- with everything you needed. We utilised the hosts suggestion for a restaurant. The lift is useful for access to the apartment. We found the apartment location easily and parked outside while we unpacked. Communication with the host was top class. We thoroughly recommend Ghent by the water and would like to stay again if we return to beautiful Ghent.

Cons: Parking in the area was tricky. A tourist map of Ghent would help with initial orientation, plus an indication of which tram goes to the main square and where the nearest supermarket is.

Great accommodation

Pros: The whole accommodation was great. Nice beds, great kitchen and livingroom.

Cons: Didn't like the garage parking... it was way too small and tight to get in and out of.

Great holiday apartment in wonderful and quiet location

Pros: Gorgeous apartment in great location. Spacious rooms. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable and relaxing dining and lounge room. All in all a great apartment. We will definitely consider coming back.

Cons: If possible, a washing machine and microwave would be a great addition, especially with small children. Easy to warm up dishes/bottles and to wash clothes without having to leave the house to look for a laundromat. Shower drain a little on the slow side

Pros: Very tidy apartment with all the necessary appliances. Also, everything was very clean when we have arrived.

A lovely apartment in a great location.

Pros: Location excellent. Just a 10 - 15 minute walk to the centre. Very comfortable apartment and spotlessly clean. Also there is an elevator - something which is not mentioned on the booking.com website.

Cons: Nothing.

Great place to stay in Ghent

Pros: Spacious apartment with everything you would need for a short stay. The big bay windows and the tree line is its best feature. Very relaxing. A supermarket and bakery within 500m. Tram stop right across the building. Also a short walk into the centre. Nice balcony at the back for lounging. Quiet neighbourhood.

Cons: At the moment the intercom doesn't work. But then that is the building management's responsibility, not the host's!
