Hotel Elisabeth

Good central location for a base in Mechelen near the cathedral.

Pros: We had a city triple room, which was perfect to give our daughter a room of her own. The room was spacious enough for us and the fridge was useful. We loved having the pool, which we had to ourselves when we went, though it was on the cooler side for my wife. The room and shower were warm enough. We parked at Parking Zandpoortvest, which was great value, but a bit of a walk from the hotel and cobbled (not great for wheeled suitcases).

Cons: The bathroom would benefit from a towel rail to dry towels and clothes (it was cold and wet when we visited). The floor under the beds was not clean, however, the other areas seemed fine.

Cosy place close to the cathedral

Pros: The staff is very friendly and really make their guests feel special. Location is perferct, just 6 minutes by foot from the main cathedral. Everything is clean, breakfast is good. I loved the waffle machine in the breakfast room, I find it very Belgian.

Cons: It is pity that the swimming pool is not expected to be used in winter. Due to exceptional friendliness of the receptionist we did manage to swim, and we are very grateful, but it is cold in the corridors around the swimming pool. But anyway, it is a minor thing, in general we are very pleased with our stay. Thank you.

Pros: I like the very spacious and clean room that we get for the price. The bathroom is fantastic, so big and clean and nice hot water. I love how there are different options on the TV.

A Lovely Stay!

Good, but unlikely we’ll be back only because of the cost.

Pros: The place is nice and well located, few minutes from the town center. Staff are friendly and the hotel/room is clean and well equipped.

Cons: The price is a bit high, and breakfast isn’t worth the money. You’re better off going into town for breakfast. We asked for a late check out for which we paid €30 euros and others we were on the trip with left the hotel at the same time as us (1 hr after checkout time) and weren’t charged. So we paid for no reason!

Altogether I really enjoyed my stay and found this hotel ideal for our purposes.

Pros: The buffet breakfast was excellent. The location was really good. We were 5 minutes walk from the centre of Mechelen. The swimming pool was large enough to get a decent swim and just the right temperature for me. The bedroom was quiet, the bed comfortable and the shower was really good. The reception staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful.

Cons: The rooms weren't cleaned everyday . There was a damp smell in the swimming pool area and the water wasn't as clear as it should have been. There were one or two maintenance issues eg a bedroom door that didn't lock and a toilet that continued to flush until you pressed again.
