Magic experience

Pros: Everything was perfect. Not only the best and most beautiful hotel in Ghent but also in Belgium and the most iconic building of the whole city. Staff was very kind and friendly. Very nice breakfast. Perfect rooms, clean, cozy, charming with awesome view. The hotel bar is the best of the city offering high quality cocktails. We visited during the winter period, the location of the hotel was just perfect to visit the Christmas markets, ferris wheel was right in front. It was an experience worth remembering for life and surely we will be back

Brilliant location and super stylish.

Pros: Super stylish and very clean, with attentive staff. Perfect location right in the heart of Ghent.

Cons: Parking was about 10 mins walk away with no luggage help. Mattress was very hard and there is a lot of noise from being in the city centre

Beautiful way to experience Gent's historic center

Pros: Friendly and attentive staff. Great location and easy to access attractions around the hotel. Lots of great restaurants close to the hotel.

Cons: The bar was very crowded and busy. Took a long time to get served, but the staff was working hard the entire time; not their fault at all. The cocktails were excellent!

Pros: Fabulous hotel in the historic quarter. Very astmospheric and like staying in a piece of history. Staff were really helpful with restaurant recommendations etc.

Great stay at 1898 The Post. Highly recommended!

Pros: Beautiful place indeed. Very nicely decorated room. Cozy and the vibe was unmatched. Nice and friendly staff. The Cobbler is amazing for breakfast and evening drinks. Gent Gothic vibes!

Cons: Would have given a higher rating but was a bit disappointed with the fact that I requested to have a room with Canal view and before I came the staff responded my message saying they’ll ensure it. I even reminded a 2nd time. However I was placed in room no. 5 and the view does not have the canal at all. I understand no rooms are directly facing the canal, but I could have been placed in a room closer to the reception (instead of no. 5 which was the last room at the corridor away from the canal view), that way I believe I could have seen a bit of the canal at least.

A truly magical weekend away in beautiful Ghent. 1898 The Post was the perfect base!

Pros: It is one of the. most exciting hotels we've ever stayed in. We loved the history of the building, the decor was divine, the staff were superb and so friendly/helpful. We loved the the little nooks and secret staircases. The touches in the room were much appreciated too. Great shower too. Breakfast was plentiful and extensive. Delicious! My only very slight negative was that the bed was a little hard BUT I asked reception for a mattress topper and one was fitted within the hour. So I couldn't have asked for a better service! Such a treat, we will be returning very soon!
